PLO slams Israel after 7 Palestinian homes torn down - PLO Secretary-General Saeb Erekat on Monday slammed Israel for the latest wave of demolitions that saw seven homes torn down across the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem in a single night.

"This is another act of collective punishment committed by Israel against the Palestinian civilian population in violation of international law and Israel’s obligations as the belligerent occupying power," Erekat said in a statement issued by his office.

In the early hours of Monday morning, Israeli forces tore down three homes belonging to slain Palestinian attackers in the village of Qabatiya south of Jenin, and another four homes that were built without permits -- one in Surif, two near Duma, and one in occupied East Jerusalem.

The demolitions are part of the most extensive demolition campaign in the occupied West Bank in the last seven years, which the UN says has left more than 650 Palestinians homeless in under three months, more than half of whom were children. >>>

Israeli army razes homes in hamlet south of Nablus - The Israeli occupation army on Monday morning embarked on demolishing homes in al-Marajem hamlet, which is located between the towns of Duma and Talfit, south of Nablus city.

A local source told the Palestinian Information Center (PIC) that three bulldozers escorted by Israeli troops stormed the hamlet and started to demolish a home belonging to the family of al-Tawil. >>>

Soldiers Demolish Three Palestinian Homes Near Jenin - IMEMC - Israeli soldiers, accompanied by several vehicles and bulldozers, invaded on Monday at dawn, Qabatia town, south of the northern West Bank city of Jenin, and demolished homes of three Palestinians, who were killed in occupied Jerusalem, two months ago. Many Palestinians were injured by army fire, including two with live rounds.

The soldiers surrounded the town before invading it, and demolished the homes of three slain Palestinians, identified as Ahmad Najeh Abu ar-Rob, 21, Ahmad Najeh Zakarna, 22, and Mohammad Ahmad Kamil, 20.

Local sources said the soldiers invaded and surrounded several neighborhoods in the town, before breaking into many homes, and used them as military posts and monitoring towers. The soldiers then stormed the three homes, forced the families out and demolished their properties. The sources added that clashes took place between the soldiers and many local youths, who hurled stones and empty bottles on the invading army vehicles.

Medical sources said the soldiers shot and injured two Palestinians from the Kamil family with live fire in their legs, before local medics moved them to the Jenin Hospital. The soldiers also fired dozens of gas bombs, causing many families to suffer the effects of tear gas inhalation. >>>

April 2016 meldet „Haaretz“, dass das israelische Tourismusministerium eine Karte der Jerusalemer Altstadt mit 57 Orten an Touristen verteilen lässt, auf der nur der islamische Felsendom – der als „Tempelberg“ und „Berg Moriah“ ausgewiesen wird –, fünf Kirchen, jedoch Dutzende Synagogen, Talmud-Thora-Lehranstalten und 25 jüdische Gebäude im Moslemischen Viertel verzeichnet sind, von denen viele Stadtführer nie etwas gehört und gesehen hätten. Die Al-Aqza-Moschee sei ohne Namen notiert. Auch die St.-Anna-Kirche und die Erlöserkirche würden in der Legende nicht genannt, das Franziskanerkloster gebe es überhaupt nicht. Außerhalb der Altstadt gelegene palästinensische Stadtteile auf dem Ölberg sowie Wohnviertel wie A-Tur und Ras Al-Amud seien namenlos als grüne Hügelflächen ausgewiesen. Das Tourismusministerium, so „Haaretz“ abschließend, bestätige die Vorlage und verweise auf ein Unternehmen, das nähere Auskünfte verweigere.

Am 03. April 2016 ziehen die Vereinten Nationen ein Drittel der israelischen Ausstellungsexponate zurück, auf denen der Zionismus als „Befreiungsbewegung des jüdischen Volkes“, das nach 1.900 Jahren der Unterdrückung die Selbstbestimmung in seinem eigenen Land wiedererlangt habe, Jerusalem als „die Hauptstadt des jüdischen Volkes“ und den arabischen Bevölkerungsteil als „die größte Minderheit in Israel mit 20 Prozent der israelischen Bevölkerung“, welche „die gleichen Rechte gemäß dem israelischen Recht“ genieße, bezeichnet werden. Der israelische UN-Botschafter Danny Danon bezeichnet die Einschränkungen als „unverschämt“ und beschuldigt die Weltorganisation, die „Existenz des Staates Israel als die Heimat des jüdischen Volkes untergraben“ zu wollen. >>>

Ramsis Kilani studierte Anglistik, Germanistik und Bildungswissenschaften, Politik interessierte ihn nur peripher.
Sein Vater, deutscher Staatsbürger mit palästinensischer Abstammung, Marxist der alten Schule und Architekt in Gaza wurde im Jahr 2014 von der israelischen Armee bei einem Bombardement getötet - mit ihm seine Frau und die fünf Halbgeschwister von Ramsis.

Für den jungen Kilani war ab diesem Moment ein Wendepunkt in seinem Leben eingetreten. Nicht nur die Ermordung seines Vaters und seiner Familie war Anlass für ihn, sich mit dem totalitären Regime in Israel auseinander zu setzen, auch der Umgang der westlichen Medien, speziell der deutschen-weissdeutschen Medien die sich die totale Solidarität mit Israel an die Fahnen geheftet haben, veranlasste Ramsis sich mit dem Zionismus selbst aber auch mit der israelischen Propaganda, die gekonnt, im Umgang mit den Palästinensern, eine Opfer/Täter-Umkehr betreibt, auseinander zu setzen.

Am 9. Dezember war er für die Gruppe42 zu Gast in Wien um seinen Vortrag "Hasbara - Fakten und Mythen" zu geben.
Ramsis führte gelassen und anspruchsvoll vor, wie die "Hasbara" also die israelische Propaganda versucht, Stimmung gegen Palästinenser zu machen, Geschichtsrevisionismus betreibt und die völkerrechtswidrige Besatzung schön- und kleinredet.

Der Vortrag von Ramsis Kilani ist eine Offenlegung und zugleich eine Anleitung zu einer konstruktiven Kritik, frei von antisemitischen Ressentiments gegenüber der israelischen Besatzung und der damit verbundenen Unterdrückung der Palästinenser. >>>

Wer besetzt wen in Israel bzw. Palästina? Frag keinen Amerikaner! - Eric Schuler - Eine neue Umfrage, die vom Institut für Forschung über Politik im Mittleren Osten veröffentlicht wurde, ergibt, dass eine Mehrheit der Amerikaner eine grundlegende Tatsache betreffend den Mittleren Osten missversteht. Speziell wurde einer statistisch repräsentativen Stichprobe von Amerikanern und drei anderen Nationalitäten eine einfache Frage über Israel und Palästina gestellt. Die Formulierung der Frage und die Ergebnisse werden unten gezeigt:

Wie man sehen kann, unterscheiden sich die amerikanischen Antworten signifikant von denen anderer Länder. In Amerika gibt es leider einzigartig eine Mehrheit von Amerikanern, nämlich 49,2%, die die Frage falsch beantworteten, da sie glauben, dass Palästinenser israelisches Land besetzen.

In Wirklichkeit besetzen die Israelis palästinensische Territorien in der West Bank und betreiben eine anhaltende Blockade des anderen palästinensischen Landflecks, bekannt als Gazastreifen. Die Okkupation dauert an, seit die Israelis den Sechstageskrieg 1967 gegen ihre arabischen Nachbarn gewonnen haben. >>>

Israeli forces kidnap brother of slain Palestinian mother - 4, 2016

Palestinian on the run from Israeli soldiers for a week — is 12 years old - Kate - Father of a 12-year-old Palestinian boy on the run for a week from Israeli soldiers in the occupied West Bank has told Middle East Eye that he fears his son will be killed if caught. Ramzi Abu Ajamia has been in hiding for the past seven nights, the boy’s father, Nasir Abu Ajamia said from their family home in Bethlehem’s Dheisha refugee camp. Israeli forces first showed up at the family’s home on 24 March, raiding the house and detaining Ramzi’s older brother. Ramzi said he had no idea why Israel was seeking to detain him. He says he attended protests against Israeli occupation, where rocks were thrown. “I don’t go to the clashes outside of the camp, but when soldiers come to us inside the camp, yeah I go out with the other boys – but that’s it – only when they come to us,” he said, speaking to MEE during a furtive visit to the family home. “I can’t explain why they want me, other than it’s my turn. Tomorrow it will be another kid’s [turn].” Nasir said: “The soldiers have been to the house three times now, the first time they took my 16-year-old.” At the time, 12-year-old Ramzi was not at home. “They beat his brother bad and afterward Ramzi saw the blood on the street and heard about how bad his brother had been hit, so he’s too frightened to let himself be arrested.” (Continued) >>>

‘Morbid symptoms’ in Palestine - Jeff Klein - A few nights ago, in the West Bank city of Nablus, I was awakened by sustained volleys of gunfire near the hotel where I was staying. The Hotel al-Yasmeen, is located in the town’s old al-Qasaba market district – yes, it’s the “Casbah” — whose narrow streets and alleys had been the scene of frequent armed clashes between various Palestinian resistance groups and Israeli security forces over the years, including other times that I had been visiting.

Disregarding the warnings of the hotel staff, I ventured out into the market to visit with several friends who were shopkeepers in the Qasaba. Everywhere, almost all the food stores, workshops and market stalls were closed and sealed behind the ubiquitous steel shutters that protected them during the night. The market remained nearly deserted as shots continued to ring out sporadically from various directions.

"Aufklärungs-Wettbewerb" begonnen - israelheute - In seinen Bemühungen, der ausländischen Propaganda gegen Israel entgegenzuwirken, gab das Außenministerium in Jerusalem am Montag bekannt, dass ein internationaler Video-Wettbewerb stattfinden wird, von denen die zwei besten Videos offiziell als Israels neue „Werbe-Filme" dienen sollen.

Vizeaußenministerin Zippi Hotovely hat diesen Wettbewerb ins Leben gerufen. Es gibt zwei Kategorien, eine für nationale und internationale Einsendungen an der jeder Bürger teilnehmen kann und eine für professionelle Werbefirmen. Die Filme müssen kurz sein und sich mit einigen vorgeschriebenen Themen auseinandersetzen, wie z.B. Jerusalem und die irreführende palästinensische Propaganda.

Es ist das erste Mal, dass dieses Ministerium die Hilfe der breiten Bevölkerung in Anspruch nehmen will, um an dem Kampf gegen den „Propaganda-Krieg“, der in den Medien und sozialen Netzwerken gegenüber Israel stattfindet, teilzunehmen. >>>

Israel presents: 'reality' hasbara - (AIC) - Israel's foreign ministry will create a reality programme in which the public selects a “hasbara video” to represent Israel.

Israeli and international, amateur and professional filmmakers who “love Israel” are invited to submit short videos for the competition, which involves a cash prize. Video categories include 'lies of Palestinian propaganda' and Jerusalem.

The Israeli online news site ynet reports that the video selected by viewers of the reality programme will become an official video of Israel and distributed by Israeli embassies throughout the world.

Deputy foreign minister Tzipi Hotovely (Likud), one of the brains behind this planned radio show, told ynet that “I believe this is an opportunity for numerous Israelis and lovers of Israel throughout the world to contribute their talents and change the global discourse, thus contributing to an improvement in Israel's position.” >>>

‘Zionism is nationalism, not Judaism,’ a former Hebrew school teacher explains - Philip Weiss - The media have at last taken up an important discussion: the relationship of Judaism and Zionism. Many supporters of Israel say that to be Jewish means to be a Zionist; and therefore it’s anti-Semitic to be anti-Zionist. Even public officials (from Hillary Clinton to Ted Cruz to Barack Obama) have backed up this claim. I thought it would be helpful to ask Israeli-American Tziva Thier, a former Hebrew school teacher and liberal Zionist, about the difference between Zionism and Judaism. I met her in New Brunswick, N.J., ten days ago, and she said: Anti-Zionism is being anti- a political movement that is nationalist. This is a nationalist movement. Anti-semitism is racism against a group of people because of their religion. So there is no connection. Anti-semitism is hating Jews for being Jews. Anti-Zionism is being anti- what the Zionist entity is doing right now as a colonialist apartheid country. I point out that American synagogues and Jewish institutions freely and widely define Jewishness as Zionism.
