20.7.2010 - Teheran kündigt Gegenmaßnahmen an - Iran will Durchsuchung von Schiffen und Flugzeugen nicht hinnehmen - Teheran will mit Gegenmaßnahmen auf eine mögliche Durchsuchung iranischer Schiffe und Flugzeuge reagieren. Das iranische Parlament verabschiedete am Dienstag ein Gesetz, das als Antwort auf die neuen Sanktionen, die der UN-Sicherheitsrat im Juni beschlossen hatte, gleiche Maßnahmen gegen die betreffenden Staaten vorsieht. Auch sollen Flugzeuge aus anderen Ländern nicht mehr im Iran betankt werden, wenn diese iranischen Maschinen Treibstoff verweigern. >>>

Divisions among Muslims, especially between Sunni and Shi’ites, have consigned the Muslim Middle East to almost a century of Western control. Muslims cannot even play together. The Islamic Solidarity Games, a regional version of the Olympics, which were to be held in April in Iran, have been cancelled, because the Iranians and the Arabs cannot agree on whether to call the body of water that separates Iran from the Arabian Peninsula the Persian Gulf or the Arabian Gulf. Muslim disunity has made it possible for Israel to dispossess the Palestinians, for the U.S. to invade Iraq, and for the U.S. to rule much of the region through puppets. For example, in exchange for faithful service, Egypt receives $1.5 billion a year from Washington, which enables President Mubarak to buy off opposition. The opposition had rather have the money than support the Palestinians. Therefore, Egypt cooperates with Israel and the U.S. in the blockade of Gaza. >>>

They openly stated that their top priority was to advance Israel’s agenda, which, in this case, was a US war against Iraq to overthrow Saddam Hussein, occupy the country, physically divide Iraq, destroy its military and industrial capability and impose a pro-Israel/pro-US puppet regime. If Iraq were ethnically cleansed and divided, as advocated by the ultra-right, Israeli Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu and the ‘Liberal’ President Emeritus of the Council on Foreign Relations and militarist-Zionist, Leslie Gelb, there would be more than several ‘client regimes’. >>>

Fernsehen  - Studie: Fernsehen berichtet unausgewogen über Terrorismus - Die deutschen TV-Sender berichten nach einer aktuellen Studie unausgewogen über den Terrorismus. "Die Terrorgefahren für Deutschland werden in den Nachrichtensendungen zum Teil überhöht, während Erklärungen weitestgehend ausgeblendet werden", sagte der Kommunikationswissenschaftler Wolfgang Frindte. Der Forscher an der Jenaer Friedrich-Schiller-Universität leitet eine Studie, die die Fernsehberichterstattung über Terrorismus untersucht. Erste Zwischenergebnisse belegten, dass über Terrorursachen kaum, über die Terrorabwehr dafür aber zu viel berichtet werde.

In comments broadcast on Syrian television, Sarkozy said "One day – whatever the Israeli government – we could find one morning that Israel has struck. Cleaning Up After Bush - William Pfaff - The Bush administration has lived by a strategy of tension, and will go out of office bequeathing the wars it has started and the ill will it has created to its successors, to compromise those who come after. The Bush people have set a lot of precedents for America: Guantanamo and the “black sites” abroad will be left, and the probably more than 1,000 U.S. military bases abroad, presumably including the 50 bases (currently) that Washington still wants to keep in Iraq after the troops go home, if they go home. And of course the administration’s outsourcing arrangements for torture and kidnapping abroad will be left to a new administration.
 

 


An Israeli Strike on Iran, a Plan That Just Doesn't Fly - Bernard Avishai and Reza Aslan - The Bush administration seems less and less likely to launch a parting strike on Iran's nuclear installations -- but Israel isn't sounding nearly so tranquil. The talk from Jerusalem will almost certainly grow more strident as the competition to replace the country's scandal-plagued prime minister, Ehud Olmert, intensifies. Former Israeli defense minister Shaul Mofaz is running hard against the less hawkish Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni to succeed Olmert as leader of the governing Kadima Party; he recently told Israel's dominant daily newspaper, Yediot Ahronot, that an attack on Iran was "unavoidable." And Binyamin Netanyahu, the right-wing opposition leader who might well beat either Livni or Mofaz in a general election, is also likely to think seriously about a preventive Israeli raid.
